GOOGLE EARTH - This page is a "How To" on:
1) downloading and installing Google Earth's FREE
software onto your computer - don't forget to bookmark this page!
2) opening and entering the desired KMZ (Google Earth)
folder / file into your Google Earth software
3) navigating Google Earth and viewing all info and
images at the specific location in Google Earth that are in the folder /
file
downloading and installing
Google Earth onto your computer
First go to the Google Earth website:
http://earth.google.com/index.html (this is the new 4.2 version, with
sky view!)
You will see on the upper right side of the page a green
"download Google Earth" button. Click on that. The software quickly
downloads and installs on your computer - fast and easy!
Google Earth should automatically open for you then, but
if it does not you will find a Google Earth icon (white and blue ball) on
your desktop. Just double-click on it.
Now you are in your own Google Earth.
opening and entering the desired
KMZ (Google Earth) folder / file into your Google Earth software
MAKE SURE GOOGLE EARTH IS STILL
OPEN ON YOUR COMPUTER. Go to archive for Spirit Mythos
Google Earth files and choose the file you wish to load. Click on the file and it will ask you if you want
to open or save it. SELECT "OPEN." It will then automatically open and be
inserted into your Google Earth.
navigating Google Earth and viewing
all info and images at the specific location in Google Earth that are in the
folder / file
Go back to the open window of your Google Earth and in
the left side panel under "PLACES" you will find the file or folder. If it
is a folder with several files inside, open the folder by clicking on the
minus (-) sign next to the folder (if the folder is not already open).
Now double-click on the place in this folder where you
wish to "go." A single click will only give you the white space with info on
the location. You must double-click to actually GO there.
You have arrived! You will get info and maybe an image
inside the white space window pointing to a specific icon. BUT
you can often see more info and images on that place on the map - if it is
not out in the middle of nowhere. FIRST, CLOSE THE WHITE SPACE WINDOW. Now
look for other icons surrounding my icon like baby chicks. These will mostly
be round white and blue markers. Some might be an "i"-shape, or other kinds.
If you click on these, you will come up with more photos and info on that
location which others have placed there. There may also be an "egg in the
nest." If you then single-click on my customized icon, it will move away to
reveal one or more other icons for you to click on...IF there are other ones
underneath it.
To move in CLOSER to the ground use the slider bar and minus (-) and
plus (+) on the RIGHT SIDE of the screen (you are looking straight down). To
turn the camera so that you are viewing things from the side, use slider bar at the RIGHT TOP. YOU MUST MOVE YOUR CURSOR OVER THAT AREA OF THE
SCREEN FOR THESE CONTROLS TO SHOW UP!

IT IS MY PERCEPTION THAT SUCH VIRTUAL TOURS ARE MORE
THAN INFORMATIVE, BUT ALLOW THE INDIVIDUAL TO EXPERIENCE AN ENERGETIC
MOVEMENT FROM ONE TEMPLE / NODE SITE TO ANOTHER IN THIS MANNER.
Google Earth
has MANY feature and
is great for a lot of uses, so you might wish to go back to the
website and check it all out. On the right side of the main page there is a
"learn more" section.
Panormio - a Google Earth photo companion. Post photos you wish to place
in your Google Earth. Then you can link them in the Google Earth text boxes
that accompany your markers.
